Yesterday was the United Nations Day (declared in 1947 by the United Nations General Assembly). So here is a picture of the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York as seen from the north of the UN site. The buildings are the General Assembly (left) and the 39-storey Secretariat. The flags of 148 UN Member States fly in a row over 500 feet long overlooking the United Nations Plaza.
United Nations Day is part of United Nations Week, which runs from 20 to 26 October.
