Tolkien fans in New Zealand will be able to collect and even use commemorative coins stamped with the faces of Gandalf, Bilbo Baggins and Gollum. Some of them will even be minted from pure gold. The most expensive coin, made from one ounce of pure gold, retails for $3,020 U.S. dollars.
The coind will be released on the first of November, in advance of “The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey”‘s premiere. They are going to be minted by the New Zealand Post “to mark this moment in cinematic history”.
